Excellence in your chosen medium…

Posted on September 26, 2013 by Beth Markel

There are some things you just have to experience to appreciate.  Sitting in a room with a Monet, alone, breathing, and just seeing what he saw.  Turning a corner in a museum and seeing a Picasso up close and personal.  It takes your breath away!  Standing in a field, alone, with sculpture towering over you, enveloping your senses, maybe even making you slightly dizzy if you look up for too long.

Such is this week’s post.  I still look for things, every day, which inspire me.  Last week I went with a girlfriend to Chicago – Road Trip!

Heaven in a little gold wrapper.

Heaven in a little gold wrapper.

Along the way, we stopped someplace I haven’t been to in a couple of years…divine and decadent …The Chocolate Garden.  Don’t laugh, it has now happened, but chocolate has become an art form!  Who knew?  I’m sure the great chocolatiers know about this as an art form – but all of the really beautiful chocolate I’ve ever had – has been pretty – but hasn’t been delicious, melt-in-your-mouth, my tongue is ecstatic, delicious.  Not so any longer…Welcome to The Chocolate Garden.

A number of years ago we discovered this little slice of heaven, and stopped for the first time.  I had a truffle coffee, which they have since patented.  The owners have added on and expanded the building where the shop lives, including adding a small patio and gift shop.  José waited on us, as we began with a 3-truffle tryout plate.  Simply divine!  The lemon truffles are fresh, bright, and succulent.  The hazelnut are melt-in-your mouth smooth, dense, lovely.  The strawberries and cream was enchanting… OK, I could go on and on, and probably on some more about this, but my best recommendation is to go, visit, check them out online, stop if you are in the area, order from their website…Texture, Intense flavor, exquisite chocolate.  Happy-happy-happy.  You’re worth it.

Oh, sooo good!
